PROJECTS 2022
OUR
New Year Initiative
30th December 2022
It just so happened that someone in our apartment Purva Whitehall (bangalore) had heard about Ossi Foundation and reached out to donate various articles like – Clothes, Toys, and books.
It was a pleasant surprise as we at Ossi haven’t yet started proactively reaching out to people for donation or contribution. So, this was in a way very satisfying that people in the neighbourhood are slowing getting to know about our work.
We collected some 9 bags of articles from them. We decided to donate it in the banjara tribe. We went to their settlement area and distributed clothes and toys to various families.
We plan to distribute books to a suitable group in coming days. We will do this along with donation of few electronic devices.
Ossi’s first anniversary and X’mas time
27th December 2022
Ossi completed one year in Nov ’22. Due our daughters’ exams and our travel schedule, we celebrated it with a food donation initiative for kids around X’mas time in Dec ’22.
Anchal bought fruits and we nicely prepared food packets. This time we wanted to cover a new location for food distribution. So, chose Agara village in HSR layout.
Interestingly it has several temples in the vicinity and a bustling market. We went there and found several underprivileged kids in that area. They were clearly very excited to receive the food packets. Many of them immediately started eating it.
It took us less than 15 minutes to distribute all the packets. We felt we should have brought more packets. Well, we will definitely come here again with a bigger plan.
Support to Cheshire Homes
27th August 2022
Cheshire Homes is an extremely respected NGO. In Bangalore, it has two facilities. One is an old age home in Whitefield, Bangalore and the other one is for orphans and underprivileged girls at Old Airport Road, Bangalore.
We at Ossi Foundation reached out to provide some support to Cheshire Homes and to also understand more about their initiatives. Hence, we had a chat with Archana who overseas running of Cheshire Homes in bangalore and her colleague Phanindra. They talked about the need for a new overhead water tank and repair of their old water tank at old age home.
We at Ossi provided them the requisite financial support to get this done.
We also had the opportunity to visit the old age home and interact with around 40 elderly women who are currently staying there. We happened to visit them during the lunchtime and had an opportunity to meet all of them and talk about their wellbeing. We were pleasantly surprised to see them in an extremely jovial mood, talking to each other, having light-hearted banter, and enjoying their meal which was sponsored by a family.
This old age home has the capacity to accommodate a total of 50 elderly women. In other words, they can accommodate another 10 women. So, in case you know someone who needs that support, please do reach out to them.
They have recently constructed an infirmary inhabitants can undergo physiotherapy and ultrasound and some other basic tests.
We at Ossi are delighted to have make a small contribution and also built relationship with wonderful set of people who and inhabit Cheshire homes.

Jyothy Seva Society - Blind School
March 2022
We had heard about Jyothy Seva Society in the past. It runs several schools for blind children in India. It was started about 40 years ago by a Nun who had come from Poland. We at Ossi foundation wanted to make a small contribution to this society. So, we reached out to Sr. Clare at the society.
They were looking for support for few books for their middle school and high school students. These are all in Braille. We came to know about an NGO making braille books, called Raised Lines Foundation, with its office inside IIT Delhi campus and having manufacturing facility in Sonipat, Haryana. Varunya at Raised Lines Foundation helped us procure these books.
Jyothi Seva Society was also looking for a Bluetooth speaker for its facility and some grocery items. Since sound plays a critical role in the learning for blind students, these speakers help students enhance their learning experience. Since Jyothi Seva Foundation provides accommodation to around 65 students at the campus in Bangalore, they need a regular supply of groceries.
Sr. Clare had also talked about their Junior School at Jowai in Meghalaya where they had some requirement for braille books.
Education is an important area of work for Ossi as we firmly believe that - Padhai…help you fly!
We at Ossi Foundation felt extremely motivated to provide this support. In March 2022, we visited Jyothi Seva Society with all the support material like Braille books, Bluetooth speaker and grocery items. Almost at the same time, their school in Meghalaya also received their books through speed post.
Sr. Teresita hosted us during the visit. We had an extremely touching experience at the school. The blind students were in the age group from 4-15 years. We saw the amount of effort and patience that is required to impart learning to these students. In fact, some teachers were past students the same school and had gone ahead and finished their graduation. One teacher had come to this school when she was 6-months old baby and is now an independent, confident teacher.
All the teachers at school had tremendous warmth for kids. We noticed that kids here were full of energy and life. We met them during their snacks break, where friends formed small groups and walked around, having fun.
One more thing which we noticed was this tremendous sense of curiosity in them. They were keen learners and constantly asked us many questions during that snacks break.
We are glad that our daughters Mitali and Khushi joined us during this visit. We wanted them to experience it.
Both Anchal and I are extremely proud of the progress that OSSI foundation has made since its inception. But we also know that this is just the beginning.
